Microgrants are available in some of our partner schools, which can range from $25 to $250. Microgrants generally involve projects (a) with one teacher, (b) multiple teachers or (c) teacher and student collaborative teams. The advantage of the latter is that it teaches students something about about grant writing and project administration. In the latter model, students are not only workers in a project; they can also be creative developers of new ideas and organizers as well. The choice of which microgrants will be funded in a given year will be left to the principal of each school. The Garden of Hope Fund chooses the schools to collaborate with and also works collaboratively to determine what the minigrants will be. Principals will choose the microgrants to be funded.

Writing a microgrant may be a new experience for some teachers. An application form is available on this website to guide you through the grant writing process. Once the form is completed we recommend that you use the email function on the page to email it to your principal and to yourself. Other buttons will allow you to save your grant information as a .rtf file or a .pdf file. You can also cut and paste it to your word processor. Finally, you can directly print it on your printer. Using multiple alternatives will prevent your work from being lost if the email transmission is not successful. Ask your principal if he/she prefers an email application or submission to them by hard copy.

At the current time, arrangements have been made for microgrants to be reviewed for two schools: Ralph Downs Elementary School and Mayfield Middle School.
